Investoscope 3 App Reviews

This app is terrible. I wanted an app to monitor and study my portfolio at different intervals of time. For example over a 24 hour period I wanted to graphically visualize my total portfolio and also view each stock so I can quickly determine which one is contributing to my gains or losses. This thing would not import a data file from Schwab as CSV and the header titles would not fit the columns. I attempted loading into Excel then importing to the app. Same issue. This thing is useless.

This program is BY FAR the best stock viewing and simulating app for Mac and I haven’t even used the paid version yet. I am still getting a feel for the free version but I will up purchasing the paid version within the next couple months 100%. This app simply offers so much more than any other app available on Mac it’s not even close. And for the people who left negative reviews, why are you asking a free app to give you the EXACT features you need? You should be developing your own software if you going to be that picky… Again great app, don’t even bother downloading other stock viewing apps. I downloaded about 5 or 6 others until I found this. Deleted them all immediately. Thanks again for this program!!!

I’m a non-professional stocks investor and I was looking for a technical tool to help me analyse stocks. Then I found this software and it is awesome. It has tons of analisys tools, manages my portofolios and monitors all the stocks I need. With this tool, I save a lot of manual work and I can spend my time analysing and making investments decisions. It seems expensive at first glance but it saves so many hours of manual work that, over the time, its price becomes a bargain. I strongly recommend!

I never review software, but Investoscope deserves praise. Your portfolio in your hands, up-to-date, watchlists, indices, relevant newsfeeds, reporting, simply everything you could possibly need for playing the stock-markets. I am very happy with Investoscope. What I would like to see added: Historical data for principal stock exchanges in Asia.

Very similar to the earlier version with limited useful upgrades. I was hoping that administration fees may have been include to reflect account that are actively managed. I am back to using the earlier version but out $30.00

Support is simply OK Updates once in a while Upgrades with a cost could be more developped, over the years maybe

I use it since many years much to my satisfaction. It regrettable in this release only the too small size of the colored tags.

I manage a variety of investment holdings for myself and have struggle with some of the apps available for the Mac as most were not very robust or the robust ones were not very user-friendly. This program was one of the best I found because it is really easy to use and navigate. It basically has all the essential reporting tools you get with premier brokerage accounts onlin, such as pie charts showing holdings and you can setup your own categories of investment (IE Long Holds or High Risk or Tech Company, etc.) and see your holdings by your own category. The downloading function of quotes and info works perfectly and in the background and the watchlists are very useful. I really like the ability to add ‘notes’ to each stock, for example, target sale price or purchase price or other items revelant to the investment (you can’t do this on your brokerage website) and that is why I use the program. My only pet peeve is that adding holdings to your portfolio is a two step process, first add the symbol to the list and then buy the symbol in your portfolio, should just be one step. I would also like to see the database allowed be to hosted/synced via iCloud, it does not play nice on network or cloud drives when I tested (so you can access from multiple computers), but works fine on one computer with a local databse. Great app that is very stable with no real bugs.

For Mac users this program is uncluttered, clean, and easy to use. I have been using it for two years and am extremely happy with the product, support, and features.

Be sure and download the try-before-buy version at their website to determine if this program suits your needs. I did and after a couple of weeks, I felt I had the hang of navigating the user interface and was hungry to make it my own. Good job on this one. The programming is stable, and for its intended purpose of portfolio management, it delivers quite well. Between the transactions and watch lists, this tool fill the void handily.

Investoscope has been my go-to investment tracking program for 4 yrs now. Excellent, indispensable program. I needed a program that could handle multiple currencies, stocks/bonds/funds from many different markets (US, HK, Australia, ASEAN, Europe) and currencies. I thought Investoscope was best when I compared/assessed in 2011, and have not looked back since then. Upgraded to Investoscope 3 the same day I migrated to Yosemite. - Easy to understand, use - Great versatility - tracks stocks, bonds, funds in so many markets and currencies - Highly automated - automatically tracks stock prices, currencies - Well organized, lots of report generating capabilities - Robust - almost never crashes. Never had an instance of corrupted database. - Good support - prompt response from the main developer himself

I started using Investoscope 2 more than a year ago and upgraded to Investoscope 3. While the software does a lot, there are some basic things that it doesn’t do, and some things it doesn’t do well: - It doesn’t do online account linkage and download from financial institutions - It doesn’t support importing data from more than a couple of formats I happen to use a brokerage that believes data should be shared using the secure OFX format from within applications rather than from downloaded files; so there is no way I can use the OFX import. And the same institution has decided that .csv and tab-delimited text files are obsolete and only makes their data available as downloaded Excel .xlsx files, which the software also doesn’t support. In order to import data updates to the program, I have to download .xlsx formatted files, then scrub them within Excel, and finally output them in .csv or tab-delimited file format. A lot of manual labor that shouldn’t be necessary. I’m sure the brokerage that I use isn’t the only one that would cause a problem importing data. I have also written the developer with many issues and suggestions over time, and he does not seem open to hearing anyone’s views on how his product could be improved. Every suggestion I’ve made has gotten a defensive response that basically conveys the message, “I’m right; you’re wrong; and that’s the end of the discussion.” The product fall short of being a high-quality commercial product given its price.

The interface is attrociously bad, and it cannot even show historical data for my mutual funds that are available all over the internet (google, yahoo, fidelity, morningstar). Building a simple portfolio requires idiotic gyrations. If you go to your portfolio, there is absolutely no way to add an investment. That’s right, it’s just a blank table. How is it possible that there is no mecahnism to add an investment when looking at your portfolio. I checked the help file, and found out that the only way to add an investment to my portfolio was to leave my portfolio. You have to go to the “Library” and search for the investment. Then, as a separate step, you have to go back the investment you just added, and “buy” some of it. And then in that process you can choose to reflect the investment in your portfolio. I’m not sure how much more complicated and convoluted one could make the process! Oh, and if you have any holdings in gold or silver, forget it. If you try to add “gold” to your library, you can only find stocks and mutual funds with the word “gold” in their name. Considering the exhorbitant asking price, there is absolutely nothing to recommend this mess.

I just spent so much time entering all of these transactions and stocks with the impression that this app was completely free. IT ISNT. After 25 transactions and stocks, IT DOESNT LET YOU ADD MORE. DO NOT GET THIS APP UNLESS YOU WANT TO SPEND $60 ON THE FULL VERSION. FREE VERSION HAS LIMITATIONS.

If you want an app that is stable, well designed, and powerful (chart tools, analysis tools), then this is your tracking application for stocks. Better than Quicken for this purpose. However, if it weren’t for all the goodness, I might have taken a star off for the difficulty of figuring out the interface for adding a portfolio’s stocks. I had to use Help to sort it, but is is obvious once seen, and correct. The basic idea is to create a list of stocks to track, and once created, use one of that list to add to one of your portfolios. Rather like HP’s reverse polish notation on the calculators. Enter information, then act on it. But I now find the list a useful overview, and altering the portfolio easy. A very good application. I’ll recommend it.

I give this a solid four stars. Ive run the application for a few years now, ver 2 onward. Never had an issue. Good interface; the charting is a bit basic. For my needs, which are basic retirement and small investment account tracking, its a simple to configure application. Many brokerage sites will offer similar web based applications but I like the fact I can easily download and combine both my wifes and my information into one view.. Only difficulty is matching certain terminaolgy between the funds and the application. Not a big deal though.
